I'm a lucky guy.  Since the mid 1970s my musical focus has been The Grateful Dead and bluegrass music.  Man, I've been to a lot of shows and festivals.  Now I get to play with the Groove and I'm in a couple of bluegrass bands (Gilbert & Co., and The Possum Trot Orchestra).  There always seems to be some interesting side gig as well.

I started with the Groove when they asked me to sit in at the 2003 Grass Roots Music Festival playing mandolin.  Now the band needs a guitar player and I'm happy with the role (bass was my first instrument at age 12, then guitar and mandolin at about age 24.  That was a long time ago).  There's a lot of things I really like about this band; the guys (and Chris) are great, it's fun, blah, blah, blah, blah but it's all about those songs, the improvisational aspect, climbing out on that limb....  We aren't doing a tribute (except in spirit) we just play.  It's cool!  I'm a  lucky guy!
